The City’s annual “CleanToronto Together” spring event is coming up this weekend. To celebrate the Bloor bike lane pilot project and show community spirit, the Ward 19 and 20 Cycle Toronto groups are organizing a Bloor Bag & Tag walk.
When: Sunday, April 23, 2017
Time: 12 noon to 2 p.m.
Where: meet at Bloor & Bathurst, outside Honest Ed’s
We’ll walk (or bike) the bike lanes, and help make Bloor look its best by:
1) picking up trash in spots the City might miss (like planters).
2) noting bike-lane potholes or broken flexi-posts, for the City to fix
3) recording missing or broken ring-and-posts for the City to fix
4) noting abandoned stripped bikes occupying parking spots, for the City to collect
Running from Avenue Road to Shaw Street, the bike lanes have already made cyclists and even motorists feel safer. This is a great chance to build goodwill with local businesses and discuss how the pilot bike lanes could be improved if (when!) City Council votes to make them permanent.
Please wear appropriate and protective clothing (boots, gloves, rain jacket, hat, sunscreen) as needed. We’ll have garbage bags and handy bikes to carry the trash.
