Enbridge Gas Distribution (Enbridge) has retained GHD Inc. (GHD) to conduct an environmental study to assess the potential impacts of natural gas pipeline construction through Liberty Village. This pipeline, which spans 1.1 km, will deliver essential natural gas to new developments in the area. Once the environmental study is complete, Enbridge will apply to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) for approval to construct. If approved, construction may begin as early as late summer/fall 2018.

The Preliminary Preferred and Alternate Route would be constructed mainly within existing rights-of-way and are identified on the map below.

As Liberty Village continues to grow, natural gas is required to service new developments. The environmental study will assess the surrounding area along the pipeline route and evaluate these routes from an environmental and socio-economic perspective and will identify ways to avoid or mitigate any potential impacts on the surrounding area. This study is being conducted in accordance with the OEB’s Environmental Guidelines for the Location, Construction, and Operation of Hydrocarbon Pipelines and Facilities in Ontario.

Stakeholder consultation is an important part of this study. Members of the public, regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities and other stakeholders are invited to attend the Public Open House to review the project and provide comments.

When: Wednesday, March 7, 2018
Time: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Where: Liberty Grace Church, 25 Liberty Street (map).

Stakeholder input will be considered in the development of the mitigation measures that will be implemented during construction and will be included as part of the final Record of Consultation. Representatives from Enbridge and GHD will be present at the Public Open House to discuss the project and answer your questions.

Questions and comments may be submitted via email to libertyvillage@ghd.com before March 22, 2018
